We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to oversee and enhance accounting operations for our organization based in New Orleans, Louisiana. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead financial processes, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and drive improvements in accounting policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of industry-specific accounting practices.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification or advanced degree is preferred.
  • At least 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within regulated utilities, the energy industry, or public accounting.
  • Proven track record of supervisory or management experience in accounting functions.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate results under tight deadlines
Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany transactions to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Develop and refine accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve operational efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Oversee the recording of revenue, expenses, and cost allocations to ensure proper financial tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory accounting guidelines and standards, including local and state public utility commission requirements.
  • Support rate case proceedings by preparing financial documentation, addressing regulatory inquiries, and collaborating with relevant teams.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and industry regulations, recommending adjustments as needed to maintain compliance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Partner with finance, operations, and regulatory teams to deliver financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Utilize accounting systems and tools, such as SAP or Oracle, to streamline processes and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Monitor and address multiple priorities while maintaining deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
