Description

The Corporate Compliance Officer – Monitoring oversees and establishes monitoring schedules and procedures to execute the bank’s consumer compliance monitoring program to appraise the soundness and adequacy of the bank’s system of internal controls for deposit, loan and operations compliance. Collaborates with a team of compliance professionals on consumer compliance topics and evaluates exceptions through additional investigation, testing and/or discussion with area personnel and his/her supervisor; reviews and validates proposed recommendations to address identified findings and formally documents resolution. Prepares reports and other related work papers as directed by the Director of Corporate Compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operational Duties include overseeing monitors completed by a team of compliance professionals who:

    • Engage in interviews with employees and stakeholders to gather insight into compliance practices and areas for enhancement.
  • Analyze monitor results and reports identifying compliance gaps, observations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain testing scripts to sufficiently cover regulatory requirements while maintaining updates on changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Assures a positive working relationship is developed and maintained with auditors / examiners
  • Serves as technical resource involving regulatory compliance
  • Provides daily, monthly and quarterly reporting as needed.
  • Participates and delivers presentations to the Compliance Management Committee.
  • Customer Service – Responsible for fostering the FirstBank Experience to our internal customers, FirstBank associates.
  • Standards and Training:


    • Maintain required training in a self-paced environment

    • Maintain additional off-site training as required
    • Adhere to Policy and Procedures - Responsible for all compliance with bank policies, procedures, and operational integrity.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    • 5+ years of experience in financial institution environment
    • 3+ years of experience in the field of consumer compliance
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Banking certifications required (ABA certifications or similar); long-term compliance experience may mitigate certification requirements

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers and general bank population.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a time sensitive environment
    • Respectful demeanor toward other associates and managers that promotes a positive and professional work environment.
    • Ability to demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior and confidentiality and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
    • Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations as applicable to your job duties. This includes but is not limited to; complete compliance training and adhere to internal procedures and controls; report any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations and report any suspicious customer and/or account activity.
