Corporate Controller Job Summary:
The Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting functions at AA Metals and it’s affiliates. This role plays a key part in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, implementing best-in-class controls, and driving the efficiency of financial operations. The Corporate Controller will lead the accounting team and work cross-functionally with leadership to support strategic decision-making.

Corporate Controller Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, and Cost Accounting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare internal financial statements and reports for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial data, identifying trends, and provide insights to management to support decision-making.
  • Coordinate and lead various audits such as the annual audit, bank audits, and inventory valuation audits.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (like GAAP), and manage regulatory reporting.
  • Implement internal controls to mitigate financial risks and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasting financial performance, and analyzing variances.
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Partner with operations, sales, and procurement teams to align financial performance with business objectives.
  • Evaluate accounting software systems and recommend improvements or upgrades where needed.

Corporate Controller Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting standards, financial analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Strong ERP systems experience (NetSuite preferred).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and identify solutions to financial challenges.
  • Effectively communicate financial information to various stakeholders, including senior management and external entities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other relevant business tools.

Corporate Controller Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or commodities trading strongly preferred.
