Description
Description The Opportunity: Reporting to the President & CFO, the Corporate Controller will serve as the senior accounting leader across EMBP’s multi-entity structure, leading all aspects of accounting operations, financial reporting, controls, and inventory/costing integrity. This executive will modernize processes, upgrade systems, enhance data accuracy, optimize workflows, and strengthen financial infrastructure across both major operating groups. This role is on-site in New Jersey and will lead the consolidated accounting team, working closely with manufacturing leadership and the executive team. This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on, systems-minded, operationally engaged finance leader to drive transformation across a growing industrial business. Key Responsibilities: · Own the consolidated accounting and close process across multiple legal entities and holding companies, ensuring accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. · Lead preparation of reporting packages for senior leadership, ownership, and private equity partners. · Establish strong internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation across a multi-entity structure. · Serve as the primary accounting and technical resource to Executive leadership, translating financial results into clear operational insights. · Support audit, tax, and compliance activities, coordinating with external auditors, tax advisors, and consultants. · Drive inventory accuracy and real-time inventory recognition across manufacturing and warehouse operations to improve purchasing, planning, customer service, and cash flow. · Oversee inventory valuation, standard costing, variance analysis, and reconciliation processes across roll-forming and plant-based operations. · Partner directly with plant leadership and spend time on the shop floor to understand production flows, material usage, scrap, and throughput. · Improve visibility into raw materials, WIP, and finished goods across multiple locations and systems. · Develop reporting and analytics that link inventory performance to margin, pricing, service levels, and working capital. · Partner with operations, sales, and supply chain to support business planning through routine sales, purchasing, and demand planning calls. · Assess opportunities for automation and AI-enabled solutions to improve scalability, accuracy, and decision-making. · Transition the organization away from underutilized legacy systems (AS400/Metalware, Omni) toward a more integrated financial and operational backbone. · Build repeatable, scalable processes that support rapid growth without increasing overhead disproportionately. · Lead a lean but capable accounting organization, including staff accountants, AP, collections, reporting, and inventory accounting. · Mentor high-potential team members and support succession planning within finance. · Partner with sales leadership to analyze customer profitability, pricing structures, and cost-to-serve dynamics, particularly as the company expands beyond traditional gypsum distributors. · Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis to support investments, capacity expansion, and market entry decisions. · Act as a key finance representative across the enterprise, balancing strategic thinking with operational execution. Requirements Job Qualifications: · More than 10 years of accounting experience within manufacturing, wholesale, construction, or related industries, demonstrating steady progression in responsibility. · Strong understanding of inventory accounting, costing, and operational finance. · Experience modernizing systems, implementing ERP/point solutions, and introducing automation. · Demonstrated success leading accounting teams and improving processes in a multi-site environment. · Experience in a private equity–backed environment a plus. · CPA or MBA preferred but not required if experience is strong. · Comfortable working onsite 5 days/week and engaging frequently on the factory floor.
