  • 5 or more years of experience working with privacy and data protection
  • Experience advising in the area of commercial contracts, vendor management, and partner agreements
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to both legal and non-legal audiences
  • Experience working in a client-facing role; comfortable discussing privacy topics with clients and prospects
  • Ability to identify and analyze complex and novel legal issues and problems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment

Responsibilities

JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a Corporate Counsel - Privacy to join our legal team, reporting to the General Counsel. This role will be central to our efforts in ensuring compliance with global privacy laws and regulations while supporting client-facing initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Product, and Customer Success, to advise on privacy and data protection matters and engage directly with clients and prospective clients to address privacy-related matters. This role will also work closely with the General Counsel on various legal matters, including contract review and negotiation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strategic legal advice on global privacy and data protection laws and their impact on business operations, products, and services.
  • Serve as the primary legal contact for client-facing privacy and data protection discussions, including negotiating data protection agreements (DPAs), responding to privacy-related RFP questions, and supporting sales and marketing efforts.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop creative solutions for novel and complex privacy issues.
  • Serve as the internal point of contact for all privacy and data protection related issues and questions.
  • Coordinate internal communication, projects, and training regarding privacy and data protection.
  • Provide support as needed to assist on other company initiatives, such as technology implementation, internal policies, and data security efforts.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and emerging trends in privacy and data protection; communicate relevant updates and implications to stakeholders.
  • Draft, review, and negotiation commercial contracts.
  • Monitor, interpret, and advise on various laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships across Freestar’s internal departments.
  • Draft policies and procedures that adhere to all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the company’s day-to-day legal matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
