JOB SUMMARY

The Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) Grants Officer position is a critical position in funding the region’s largest social service agency, focusing on securing funding across numerous programs from a well-developed and longstanding list of philanthropic institutions. In conjunction with the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations and other internal departments within Catholic Charities, the CFR Grants Officer determines appropriate funding sources by researching eligibility and submitting timely grant proposals and reports to support Catholic Charities’ strategic goals of maximizing financial support from private funders.
The Grants Officer also works closely with the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations to execute strategic initiatives to increase engagement with corporate and foundation funders.

QUALIFICATIONS/TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or English and minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Without a degree, five or more (5+) years of relative experience.
  • Research experience and knowledge of all aspects of fundraising required; previous government grant writing experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Raiser’s Edge, Excel, Microsoft products and database tools required.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, with good driving record, and ability to operate a
  • vehicle when necessary to carry out duties.
  • Has the ability to work with diverse and/or low-income populations, including those who may be experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, and/or mental illness.
Responsibilities

60%

  • Proactively cultivates relationships with funders in anticipation of soliciting grants, including general operating, capital funding and other program funding.
  • Determine sources and schedules of CFR grants, communicates proposal activity in an accurate and timely manner, and identifies and pursues other funding as required to reach annual agency fundraising goal.

30%

  • Tracks proposal activity, maintains records and generates reports as required via

Raiser’s Edge, SharePoint and hard copy files.

  • Maintains working knowledge of all Catholic Charities’ programs and projects and

collaborates internally, as needed.

10%

  • Schedules and provides preparation materials for meetings with Corporate/Foundation representatives and the Catholic Charities’ Executive Team, including the CEO.
  • Partners in building corporate/foundation relation strategies; especially in conjunction with Volunteer Services.
