Description

Legal Assistant,
The Legal Assistant provides administrative and clerical support within a professional legal environment. The Legal Assistant is responsible for coordinating a variety of administrative procedures to ensure a high standard of quality and client service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Office Administration – Legal or Law Clerk diploma from recognized post-secondary institute or suitable combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two years of law office experience in family law
  • In-depth knowledge of court forms and court filing systems
  • Proficiency in composing, organizing, and presenting client financial disclosures, preliminary legal documents, and affidavits
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and DivorceMate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional presentation
  • Strong client service ethic

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize job tasks in order to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to respond effectively and professionally to changes in schedules and priorities
  • Ability to ensure consistent attention to details and ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work in a collegial but fast paced environment
  • Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive information
  • A positive, supportive, and professional attitude

    Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of correspondence and legal documentation including extensive editing and quality assurance
  • Preparation of family law forms, briefs and other materials to be filed with the Court
  • Schedule and manage client consultations, court dates, and appointments
  • Coordinate external and internal communication
  • Daily maintenance of client files and address client inquiries as required
  • Daily preparation of dockets and client billings
  • Maintenance of electronic and physical filing systems
  • Assist with other projects and support other departments as required
