Responsibilities

TEAM/ROLE OVERVIEW

The strategic origination team are responsible for 2 core functions:
1) Marketing, structuring and executing rates and currency derivative solutions for Citi’s corporate and financial sponsor clients in association with episodic transactions such as M&A, Project Finance, and equity / debt capitalizations
2) Derivative Sales for Financial Sponsor clients for currency and rates hedging needs.
The AVP will support all facets of this business, including building and maintaining client relationships, crafting deal approval memos, pricing and executing live transactions, drafting bespoke marketing materials, participating in client pitches, onboarding clients including ISDA/CSA negotiation.
The candidate will regularly engage with clients as well as trading, sales, banking, ICM, internal/external counsel, and other product partners.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Onboard new trading counterparties ensuring all KYC, regulatory, and internal pre-trade requirements are met
  • Model PFE, XVA, and capital returns associated with credit bearing fund level trades
  • Build and foster relationships with financial sponsor clients.
  • Execute live FX transactions with clients and book tickets in Citi’s internal risk systems
  • Regularly track / monitor existing deal contingent transactions on the books
  • Review M&A documents to evaluate risks to closing in the context of deal contingent hedges
  • Draft deal contingent approval memos outlining key deal risks, deal economics, and max risk
  • Negotiate new ISDA and CSA docs with fund level entities
  • Create derivative marketing materials tailored to episodic transactions
  • Partner closely with other key businesses and functions to ensure proper product deployment based on understanding of client
  • Understand and analyze clients’ businesses and exposures to provide best suited sales solutions in full coordination with all relevant business partners
  • Leading strong governance and controls
  • Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
  • Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
  • Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation.
