JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Providing a safe, secure environment for our workforce and visitors is essential at Nationwide. Our Security team monitors security needs and assist associates with security and safety-related issues. If you are safety focused, an effective communicator, detail oriented and ready to serve and protect our associates and the public, we want to know more about you!
As a Corporate Security Officer, you’ll contribute to the secure environment at Nationwide. Greeting and screening all visitors entering the facilities will be key in your role. In addition, you’ll patrol the facilities and report or take action to correct any breach of the company security policy.
It will be important for you to learn all the functions of the Security Control Room including database management, troubleshooting of computerized systems and the Identification Center including database management and production. In addition, you’ll proactively investigate crimes and unusual, suspicious or dangerous incidents and resolve these situations. Should the need arise, you’ll execute life safety procedures to protect the lives of associates in various emergency situations.
TYPICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:
Education: High school degree required. Bachelor or technical school degree is preferred.
Experience: One or more years of related security experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proven knowledge of corporate safety and security practices, procedures, equipment, firearm, and console operation. Must have the ability to learn the use of firearms (qualify annually) and safety equipment. Must possess personal computer skills and good verbal and written communications skills. Must possess ability to use good judgment, deescalate and provide calm and rational direction.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL PLAY A KEY PART IN ENSURING THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF OUR ASSETS, PERSONNEL, CUSTOMERS, AND VISITORS. STRONG COMMUNICATION SKILLS ARE ESSENTIAL, AS YOU WILL INTERACT WITH A DIVERSE RANGE OF INDIVIDUALS. YOU WILL HELP UPHOLD HIGH STANDARDS OF CONDUCT, SAFEGUARD OUR PREMISES, AND MANAGE STRESSFUL SITUATIONS WITH PROFESSIONALISM, TACT, AND COURTESY. ADDITIONALLY, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPOSING DETAILED WRITTEN REPORTS AND OTHER NECESSARY DOCUMENTATION.
Work Schedule: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with Wednesday & Thursday off.
