Job Summary The Corporate Tax Manager will be responsible for managing the company's comprehensive tax compliance and planning function in close collaboration with the Corporate Senior Tax Director and third-party service providers. This role requires a broad understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws to ensure effective tax compliance, tax planning, reporting, and risk management. In this role, the Corporate Tax Manager serves as the primary owner of day-to-day tax compliance — taking full end-to-end accountability for the company’s multi-state, multi-entity tax obligations and outsourced service provider relationships — enabling the Corporate Senior Tax Director to focus on deal support, tax strategy, and technical matters as Priority Power advances its business model. Key Responsibilities Corporate Tax Compliance: Prepare and ensure the timely filing of all direct and indirect federal, state, and local tax returns, including income, sales/use, excise, and ad valorem taxes. Partnership tax compliance, including preparation of federal and state partnership returns and issuance of K-1s. Corporate tax compliance, including preparation of federal and state corporate returns Employee and contractor tax compliance, including 1099 coordination. Supervise and guide third party service providers and external advisors on outsourced tax compliance functions. Tax Risk Management: Actively maintain the controls environment for the corporate tax function, identifying potential risks and escalating matters to the Corporate Senior Tax Director. Monitoring tax law changes to ensure compliance with all tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, including those specific to the energy industry. Coordinate correspondence with tax authorities, including support of tax audits. Maintain accurate and current tax records and documentation. Assist with tax due diligence and integration strategy for M&A transactions, providing thorough analysis regarding tax risks and opportunities. Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of the corporate income tax provision and disclosures, including maintenance of deferred income tax assets and liabilities, review of tax positions, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts. Maintain corporate forecast models and cash tax budgets based on current performance and updated projections. Ensure adherence to financial reporting standards for accounting for income taxes (including but not limited to ASC 740). Tax Planning & Strategy: Work closely with the Corporate Senior Tax Director, finance team, and external advisors to assess tax implications and opportunities of various business activities, transactions, and corporate strategies. Support tax planning related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, and commercial transactions, with a focus on maximizing tax efficiency. Assist with investor reporting and stakeholder communications (including internal departments, customers, and vendors) regarding tax-related matters. Prepare ad-hoc analysis for financial reporting impacts as needed. Research complex tax issues and draft tax memorandum, standard operating procedures, or departmental guidance for documentation, as applicable. Internal Collaboration & Advisory: Develop and maintain strong collaboration and lines of communication between Tax, Accounting, Treasury, Finance, M&A, Legal, Human Resources, and Commercial departments regarding all applicable direct and indirect tax matters. Provide tax training and updates to internal stakeholders, ensuring awareness of tax implications in decision-making processes supporting corporate strategies. Identify opportunities for process improvement; leverage automation to drive efficiency, both independently and through collaboration with other departments. Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field CPA license required 5-7+ years of Corporate tax experience in a Big 4/public accounting firm or corporate tax department, with demonstrated ability to independently own and manage a compliance function Significant knowledge of ASC 740 and US corporate income taxes Experience with partnership tax compliance (federal and state returns, K-1 preparation) and/or indirect tax compliance Proficient in the full Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) Takes initiative with high attention to detail Strong research and analytical skills Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively solve problems, including translating complex tax matters into clear, actionable guidance for non-tax stakeholders Solid organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Preferred Job Skills & Qualifications: Master’s degree in taxation Energy and/or construction industry experience Indirect tax experience (sales and use, excise, ad valorem, payroll, etc.) Advanced modeling experience is a plus Prior tax equity and/or investment tax credit experience is a plus Private equity-backed company experience is a plus Cloud ERP/Software experience (NetSuite, Oracle, OneSource, Blooomberg, etc.) Software implementation and process automation experience Experience with data analytics tools is a plus (Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) Experience building tax departments and managing third party service providers Why Choose Priority Power?
