THIS IS AN INTERNAL POSTING FOR DRC EMPLOYEES ONLY. What You’ll Do: This position works under administrative direction and requires thorough knowledge of custody, safety and security measures for detention of adult felons. Directs all security operations on all three shifts and special duty shift related to security, safety, custody, count procedures & control of incarcerated persons Supervises and trains Correction Captains in charge of security operations on individual shifts Conducts inspections pertaining to vulnerability, security, safety, sanitation, and contraband to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures Investigates and resolves problems discovered by inspection Provides instruction and training to subordinates on use of force, custody, and Rules Infraction Board Acts as liaison between custody and all other departments by communicating policies, procedures, and rules Works in conjunction with the Unit Management Chief by supporting the philosophy of a unit managed prison, enforcing memorandums of understanding, coordinating security/unit management staff and implementing/monitoring unit plans Implements and applies critical incident management principles and processes Oversees the coordination and analyzes data of Security Threat Group (STG) and activities to decrease violence Oversees and/or conducts investigation of employee standards of conduct and/ or inmate rules infractions Provides oversight to the Rules Infraction Board and Use of Force Committees Oversees the completion of daily logs, reports, and responds to miscellaneous correspondences (e.g. counts, hospital trip logs, incident reports, correspondence from incarcerated persons and their families) Attends meetings and functions as required (e.g. security for special inmate functions, tours of institution) Conducts periodic rounds Oversees the use of technology systems such as body scanners and body worn cameras High school diploma or G.E.D.; 4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in enforcement of security methods for detention of felons or consumers who are criminally insane in controlled environment; 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques. -Or high school diploma or G.E.D.; 12 mos. exp. as Correction Captain, 46536. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
