It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work Salary Range: $37,782 - $66,120 Reporting to the Correctional Lieutenant, this position will provide supervision for subordinate staff. Job responsibilities include the following: - Conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. - Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms. - Accounting for persons and funds to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Knowledge of facility operations. Knowledge of Prisons’ policy and procedures. Necessary Special Qualifications: MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. This is a full-time position working rotating shifts with State Benefits. Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC08. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase May result. About Sampson Correctional Institution: Sampson Correctional Institution is in Clinton, North Carolina and houses up to 462 male offenders in a medium/minimum custody facility.
