Job Title: Corrosion Engineer - Materials Technology Location: Barrow-in-Furness- onsite Salary: £37,091+ dependent on skills and experience What you’ll be doing: Provide material selection and compatibility advice on submarine programmes by enacting the Corrosion Management Strategy Maintain design documentation and de-risk functional aspects with mitigation strategies Develop knowledge of corrosion performance and future mitigation strategies Understand submarine build/operational/maintenance needs to aid material selection Perform failure analysis and experimental research on galvanic interactions and corrosion behaviour of metallic materials and high performance alloys Support corrosion research via lab testing and university projects Your skills and experiences: Degree at minimum of bachelors in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry or Engineering Hands-on laboratory experience with practical testing and analysis Proven experience in corrosion-related projects, including materials selection and corrosion assessment Benefits: As well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts - you may also be eligible for an annual incentive. The Corrosion and Coatings team: Our Corrosion and Materials Technology team provides expert support across the entire platform lifecycle from material selection and consultation with system owners to pioneering Research & Technology (R&T) projects. Working on programmes such as Dreadnought and SSNA, the team supports the Corrosion and Coatings Consultant in testing and evaluating materials and tooling used in submarine construction.
