A Corrugator Supervisor at Pratt Industries is a front-line production leader responsible for the efficient, safe, and high-quality operation of the corrugating department. Their core function is to directly supervise, train, and manage a team of employees, ensuring the department meets production, efficiency, and quality targets set by management. They act as a critical link between the floor and upper management, handling everything from inventory and maintenance coordination to safety compliance, performance reviews, conflict resolution, and maintaining a positive team environment. This role requires significant technical expertise in corrugator operations, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage time and crises effectively. What You’ll Need To Be Successful Team Leadership & Management * Directly manage all assigned department employees, enforcing company policies and applicable laws. * Train, coach, retain, and lead employees to continuously improve performance and skills. * Conduct performance appraisals, administer fair discipline, and provide rewards and recognition. * Proactively resolve employee complaints and manage conflicts to build strong team morale, trust, and confidentiality. * Lead weekly Production/Safety meetings and ensure effective communication between shift changes. Production, Quality, & Operations * Maintain and exceed established quality, efficiency, and production goals. * Monitor production output and report quality issues to the Corrugator and Plant Superintendents, assisting in defining quality guidelines. * Coordinate with the Corrugator Superintendent and Maintenance team to schedule and execute preventive maintenance and repairs. * Manage and track inventories of rollstock and corrugator supplies. * Keep upper management informed of any situations or problems that could influence departmental performance. Safety & Compliance * Implement, maintain, and support all company policies, procedures, and safety programs. * Ensure the department follows good housekeeping practices and complies with all regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, environmental standards). * Demonstrate and promote superior behavior, attitude, and performance as a role model. Qualifications & Skills Required Experience & Education * High School Diploma or GED. * Minimum of 5 years of experience operating a 110” BHS corrugator. * Minimum of 2 years of prior supervisory experience. Essential Skills * Technical Expertise: Working knowledge of corrugator equipment design, capabilities, quality standards, and cost-reduction strategies. * Leadership Attributes: Excellent crisis management, high emotional control, superior time management, effective teaching/training skills, and consistent, assertive leadership. * Employee Relations: Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, ability to give positive and corrective feedback, and proficiency in motivational and delegation techniques. * Verbal & Written Communication: Ability to read, interpret, and write reports, as well as speak effectively to groups. * Mathematics: Ability to read a tape measure accurately, calculate figures (percentages, rate, volume), and apply high school math concepts. Physical Demands & Work Environment The role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to regularly stand, walk, and reach. The work environment is a manufacturing plant where the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, and a loud noise level.
