EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• B.B.A. or B.S. in business with an Accounting or closely related major, CPA or CMA completed or in progress a plus
• Demonstrated interest in cost accounting and operations through course work, internships, full-time job experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively interact with senior management.
• Computer savvy, knowledge of ERP systems, strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft office applications including Power BI

In addition, the Cost Accountant / Analyst will develop strong broader business skills including:

• Exposure to other Supply Chain functions and disciplines through defined cross functional project work and participating on an operations improvement teams
• Significant interactions with corporate accounting and financial planning and analysis
• Learn continuous process improvement skills (e.g. lean / 6-sigma)Develop strong presentation skills preparing summary of cost savings project results to both management and production team member

The Cost Accountant / Analyst will lead daily KPI reporting, daily labor cost and variance analysis, and provide actionable business insights for daily direction setting meeting 4 at the Tarbor, NC Sara Lee Frozen Bakery. This role also will lead development of the direct labor and overhead quarterly department-level forecasts and annua budgets as well as participate on cost reduction / process improvement teams. This role will also prepare assigned month end Journal Entries and prepare bakery financial reports. Sara Lee Frozen Bakery is a $1B private Equity owned food manufacturing company headquartered in Oak Brook Terrace, Illinois with manufacturing plants located around the country. The position will be located at the Tarboro, NC Manufacturing Plant with occasional work from home days. Responsibilities while in this role will include training and development in a broad range of accounting, internal control, financial planning and analysis, continuous improvement and have the following key responsibilities:

• Accounting period close related tasks
• Daily / Weekly Key Performance Indicators (KPI) updates
• Cost and variance analysis
• Participate on continuous improvement team projects
• Management reporting of financial results including calculating and communicating key performance indicators
• Annual Operating Plan and standard cost development
• Testing and evaluation of internal controls including inventory accuracy
• Timely completion of assigned project work including process improvement and ad hoc analysis
