We are looking for a new ideal team player as a Cost Accountant in our Finance Department! The Cost Accountant is responsible for recording all aspects of the organization's inventory and elimination functions, assisting the operations function with managing, calculating and performance relating to inventory costs, and ensuring the compliance to US GAAP and ensuring the company’s inventory, COGS and elimination function are recorded and presented in accordance with company policy. Including developing and maintaining accounting policies, ensuring compliance with regulations, budgeting, and working with external auditors to maintain financial accuracy and integrity within the company. Foster a positive work environment between the Accounting and Operations departments. Prepare and record accurate financial transactions relating to Inventory, COGS and elimination that support timely financial reporting. Validation and input of the Standard cost rates for item costs. Ownership of the Cosmos Job costing process and calculation. Ownership of the Standard rate re-roll, and reconciliation. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential risks. Provide insight to management for decision-making. Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP. Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting regulations and tax laws. Help to monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets, including physical counts and procedures. Assist with budget and forecast process for inventory, including strategic planning. Assist with external auditors during the audit process. Work closely with other departments within the organization providing financial expertise and supporting to cross-functional teams. Other tasks as assigned. Requirements You must hold a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of 5 years total accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on cost account experience required. Experience in the manufacturing/retail industry including a working knowledge of standard costing and cost allocation methods. Competencies Good understanding of GAAP and accounting principles relating to inventory and Intercompany. Quality analytical and critical thinking skills. Experience with Microsoft Office suite, including high level of proficiency in Excel. Familiarity with Power BI or other business intelligence software preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; frequent use of a keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment. Periodic navigation of warehouse and production areas to conduct physical inventory counts while safely maneuvering around equipment and stored materials. May occasionally lift items up to 25 pounds.
