Position Summary This position performs advanced cost accounting analyses to compare estimated costs to actual costs, prepares a variety of related budgets and forecasts, analyzes financial data, manages costs, and provides insights to improve profitability within the organization.   Essential Job Functions  * Gathers and compiles cost information and maintains database concerning expenses * Develops systems and procedures for accumulation systems and/or cost accounting functions * Predicts, plans, and records variable costs such as purchases of raw material, labor, and operation costs * Accounts for fixed and variable costs in relation to the overall direct cost of manufacturing processes; establishes cost of manufacturing processes such as administration, labor, shipping, maintenance, and raw materials * Collects and analyzes operational cost data; constructs systems and processes to accumulate and monitor data * Determines and sets standard costs of manufactured goods; develops and analyzes cost standards; analyzes and reports cost-volume-profit analysis; designs formulas; calculates fixed and variable costs for manufacturing * Reviews and analyzes actual costs to identify inaccuracies; compares receipts with actual charges to detect inaccuracies * Prepares necessary departmental and company-wide budgeting reports; reviews, analyzes, and reports actual profit margins * Assists with budget planning; prepares reports for multiple departments and companies * Reports asset utilization and audit results to management; recommends changes in operations and financial activities * Prepares forecasts for monthly, quarterly, and/or annual operating schedules and costs * Analyzes month-end and year-end reports; identifies and recommends cost-effective improvements * Predicts, plans, and records variable costs such as purchases of raw material, labor, and operation costs * Reviews and analyzes actual costs to identify inaccuracies * Follows all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); adheres to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as required * Enters data in appropriate ERP system/s; verifies data * Recommends changes to work processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit * Projects profit margins for upcoming quarters and analyzes trends of highs and lows * Assists with preparation of financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flows as necessary * Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EHSS principles and values; champions safety at all times; participates in and/or leads safety teams or projects as appropriate * Performs other duties assigned by management that generally fall within the expected scope of this position   Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.  This description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions. It does not proscribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.     Experience & KSA’s Required  * Minimum of 3-5 years as a Cost and/or Plant Accountant or equivalent experience and education  * Prior experience with chemical manufacturing and related industries  * Expertise in activity-based costing for fixed and variable costs in relation to the overall direct cost of a line of products  * Experience with creating spreadsheets and analyses; excellent Excel skills  * Knowledge of ERP systems and various financial programs * Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process * Proven ability to operate under stressful situations * In-depth knowledge of business, Company policies, rules, regulations and processes and procedures * Excellent analytical skills and abilities; project management skills * Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP; general knowledge of IFRS rules * Experience with companies required to follow SOX regulations; good knowledge of internal controls and ISO procedures * Customer focus including the ability to speak diplomatically; problem solver * Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments * Good computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use database systems and other programs and applications used by this position and at Company * Fluent in English language including reading, writing and speaking; ability to read and write at a minimum of high school level; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization   Education Requirement  * Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field * CPA desirable * Advanced degree helpful   Competencies  * All Company Core Competencies   Work Environment  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
