POSITION SUMMARY

Magellan Aerospace, Haverhill is a world-class manufacturer of precision machined aerospace components. We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Cost Accountant. The primary responsibility of a Manufacturing Cost Accountant is to perform advanced cost-accounting work covering material and production costs, costs of sales, research and product development, etc. To compare actual costs to estimates and analyze variances. To develop standard cost data and accurate inventory valuations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or One to three years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years Manufacturing experience required
  • Experience working with Great Plains, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft word, SAP
  • Good analytical and organizational skills.
  • Good knowledge of Excel and computerized accounting and costing systems
Responsibilities
  • Analyzes and costs manufacturing work orders following company’s costing system.
  • Plans, studies, and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor using excel spreadsheets
  • Prepares the monthly cost of sales figures by analyzing material, labor, and research and development expenses. Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Assists the accounting manager in preparing monthly journal entries for cost of sales and scrap.
  • Maintains FIFO inventory system and follows established valuation method.
  • Assist with audits, both internal and external
  • Analyzes variances, process routine and ad hoc request, or any other requested assigned tasks
