POSITION SUMMARY

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on cost-related data to support operational and financial decision-making. This position plays a key role in product costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and overall financial performance tracking, with a strong focus on supporting the manufacturing and distribution process.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of relevant cost accounting experience in a B2B environment, preferably within the distribution or manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite); advanced Excel skills required.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in the chemical manufacturing industry.
  • CPA or CMA designation (or working toward certification).

    Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and analyze standard costs of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis (purchase price, labor, overhead, and manufacturing variances).
  • Prepare detailed inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) reports and reconcile inventory accounts.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to understand cost drivers and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers on semi-annual pricing reviews to ensure accurate margin analysis and pricing strategies.
  • Work with the Business Analytics team to evaluate sales performance trends and interpret data to support the annual forecasting and budgeting processes.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of cost accounting systems and procedures.
  • Support monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations related to inventory and cost accounting.
  • Prepare periodic inventory reserves reconciliation, analyzing inventory for risk, and monitoring with support from internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in annual budgeting and standard cost setting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and accounting principles related to cost accounting.
  • Assist with audits (internal and external) by providing required documentation and analysis.
  • Provide ad hoc financial and operational analysis to support business strategy.
