SUMMARY We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to develop policies and procedures regarding inventory cost accounting and management. This position will provide Finance and Executive leadership with a variety of financial, statistical and analytical needs. It’s an opportunity to improve the current processes and develop best-in-class practices which will make a significant impact on the business. This role will be required to prepare all inventory related reports, monitor inventory processes and data for trends and accuracy, work with our logistics team on the physical/cycle count inventory process and any daily inventory related issues. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Own standard costs and inventory valuation for landed costs – including FOB purchase price, duty and tariff, ocean freight, inland freight, and broker fees. Review and analyze team of 3 people who perform daily cycle counts. Full responsibility for the Inventory Aging reporting. Partner with Planning and Sales Departments to push selling excess and obsolete inventory. Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly Inventory reports. Monitor inventory data, transactions, and processes for trends and anomalies; investigate and resolve discrepancies, providing root-cause analysis and process improvement recommendations. Be the accounting team leader for the physical/cycle count inventory process, partnering with the logistics team. Manage all inventory audits and appraisals (CPA and lender collateral) Make recommendations on inventory reserve calculations. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to mine and aggregate data from a variety of sources. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Enjoys working in a team environment with the ability to interact with and influence all levels of the organization. Independent, organized, self-starter that enjoys rolling up their sleeves. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong emotional intelligence and business partnering skills. Ability to work and meet deadlines with limited supervision. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; Strong US GAAP knowledge regarding Inventory / COGS 3+ years of related cost accounting experience at a CPG or manufacturing company. Superior Microsoft Excel skills (V Lookups, Pivot Tables, etc) Experience with NetSuite ERP
