Cost Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, collect, update, analyze, summarize, and evaluate cost-related information.
  • Develop and maintain cost models for pricing and profitability analysis.
  • Conduct Work-in-Progress (WIP) Analysis to monitor and evaluate costs associated with unfinished goods, ensuring accurate allocation of labor, materials, and overhead to WIP inventory.
  • Perform Purchase Price Variance (PPV) Analysis to assess and explain the differences between actual and standard purchase costs, identifying reasons for variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintain sub-ledger activities, including inventory, work-in-progress (WIP), and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Partner with Warehouse/Inventory Control on cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Work with Supply Chain to reduce aged and obsolete inventory.
  • Analyze and maintain inventory valuation and cost fluctuations.
  • Review monthly inventory details to identify excess/obsolete items and record related journal entries (e.g., maintaining E&O reserve).
  • Compile, analyze, and communicate monthly scrap and shrinkage results by plant, identifying areas for scrap reduction.
  • Assist with the monthly financial close process, ensuring accuracy in system-generated transactions and manual entries.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end close.
  • Assist in preparing month-end and year-end reports, including inventory reconciliations, journal entries, and cost of goods sold analysis.
  • Provide full support during company financial audits and respond to internal/external audit requests.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, etc.) to address issues and optimize processes.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform various ad hoc financial reports and analyses as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years of job-related work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTable, SUMIF) and financial reporting tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
