JOB BRIEF:

We are currently recruiting a Cost Controller with extensive experience in the Construction industry. To track, analyze and control the costs associated with a project, such as large-scale construction projects where there are multiple subcontractors and suppliers who all need paying. Day-to-day, you’ll find forecasting expenditures, planning budgets, classifying costs by type/ codes, tracking man-hours allocated to a project, verifying subcontract/supplier invoices and managing/ reporting change events that impact the budget.

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Cost Controller.
  • Relevant degree in Accounts or Engineering or sufficient industry experience.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Exposure to engineering projects will be considered advantageous.
  • Strong skills required in Microsoft Office – Particularly in excel.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain Project Work Breakdown Structure and Cost Breakdown Structure for specific scopes and codes
  • Manage the project work approval process in terms of accurate cost code allocation and initial budget set-up and approvals
  • Develop and maintain project cost plans using appropriate software applications
  • Monitor and control cost commitments and expenditures through all phases of project lifecycle
  • Liaise with procurement, finance, and other parties as required, to ensure accurate and timely capture of procurement, materials, subcontract and labour manhour costs.
  • Liaise with engineering, procurement and construction functions, and others as required, to maintain awareness of project activities and their impact on the project budget, schedule and cost forecast
  • Monitor and report on cost impact of project manpower forecasts
  • Monitor cost impact of achievement/non-achievement of major project milestones
  • Monitor overall project cost performance and contingency drawdown
  • Effectively provide Reports and guidance to the company management
