JOB SUMMARY:

The Cost Estimator is expected to quickly and efficiently develop, execute, track and communicate quoting activities as well as enhance value to the customer through the quoting and engineering processes. They would be a trusted advocate for the customer and the company, while embodying and be devoted to the company’s Core Values in all that they do.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Technical knowledge of injection molding.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of cost estimating or manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in injection molding.
• Strong understanding of plastic materials, tooling, cycle times, and production process.
• Experience with CAD drawings and ERP/MRP systems for quoting.
• Professional, pleasant, courteous, and cooperative attitude with co-workers & customers at all times
• Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and the company
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Time management
• Prompt arrival and regular attendance at work
• Capable of multi-tasking

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of experience in estimating or related experience, required.
• Bachelor’s degree of Business or Engineering, preferred.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the development and administration of costing and overhead studies to support sales and sustainability strategies.
• Listen and understand customer’s requirements, needs, and issues to form a solution.
• Coordinate with Sales, Accounting, Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Tooling to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
• Assist the Engineering team with product Concepts and R&D projects.
• Assist the Process Engineer team with production processes.
• Ensure all quoted projects are correctly quoted and product requirements fit with internal processes or external resources both on timeliness and cost effectiveness.
• Provide customers and prospects with pre-sale technical assistance and product education.
• Data entry of customer parts and bills of materials.
• Generate turnkey quotations, including labor, material costs, overhead, margins, and lead times.
• Reports on status of quotes including turnaround times to generate quotes and success rates.
• Responds to internal turnaround time goals, customer expectations, and customer feedback.
• Determine, facilitate, and implement continual improvement of the quoting process.
• Work closely with accounting to make sure product costing aligns with initial quotes.
• Time on the floor to ensure production is aligning with quoted projects.
• Work closely with project managers to ensure project is staying on budget.
• Assist with project management team when needed.
