Please visit our website: www.turnerandtownsend.com Job Description Overview The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate cost advice, robust cost planning, and commercial leadership across major construction, real estate, or infrastructure projects. This role requires strong technical capability, stakeholder management, and the ability to independently manage multiple project workstreams. Cost Planning & Estimation Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates, preliminary budgets, and elemental cost plans from concept to detailed design stages. Develop benchmarking, cost data, and pricing models to support early-stage estimates. Validate design evolution through cost checks and value engineering assessments. Use cost estimating platforms such as CostX, Candy, or equivalent tools to perform accurate quantity take‑offs. Pre‑Contract Commercial Management Prepare Bills of Quantities (BQ), tender documents, Schedules of Rates, and procurement packages. Manage tender evaluation, analyze bids, and provide detailed commercial recommendations to clients. Support procurement strategies aligned with project risk, market conditions, and client objectives. Post‑Contract Cost Management Administer cost control processes including change management, valuation of variations, and claims assessment. Prepare detailed cost reports, cashflow forecasts, and contingency tracking. Monitor contractor progress claims and validate payments against contract requirements. Manage project risks and provide mitigation recommendations during delivery phases. Client & Stakeholder Engagement Serve as a key client interface, presenting cost analyses, progress updates, and commercial insights. Build strong, trusted relationships with clients, design teams, and contractors. Represent Turner & Townsend in project meetings and commercial negotiations. Leadership & Team Contribution Provide guidance to junior QS team members and support quality control on deliverables. Champion Turner & Townsend’s methodologies, processes, and best practices. Contribute to business development activities where required, including proposal support and cost data development. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, or related discipline. Approximately 8 years of relevant experience, ideally in a consultancy environment. Strong capability in developing cost plans, pre‑contract documentation, and post‑contract commercial management. Proficiency in key cost tools (e.g., CostX, Excel) Proven client‑facing skills with ability to communicate technical cost information clearly. Strong commercial awareness and understanding of market trends. Track record of independently delivering medium‑to‑large projects or packages. Preferred Qualifications Professional membership or progression toward RICS, or equivalent chartership. Experience in major sectors such as commercial real estate, infrastructure, industrial, or data centres (advantageous).
