Description

Purpose Statement: The Costing Engineer Staff is responsible for providing accurate and timely manufacturing pricing information. This role enables Plexus to provide industry competitive pricing quotations in support of current customers and new business development opportunities. Lead in driving standardization and efficiency. Key Job Accountabilities: Analyze customer technical data in order to estimate and prepare detailed manufacturing cost information in support of quote activities. Meet with manufacturing sites to validate cost estimates with site management and engineering staff to gain site agreement on true manufacturing costs and ensure quote consistency. Determine optimum manufacturing cost solutions for new business opportunities. The best solution will target lowest total cost to Plexus and in turn, provide competitive pricing to our end customers. Ensure product costs are sensible from one manufacturing site to the next in order to represent a “One Plexus” solution to our customers and targets. Oversee and provide mentoring and guidance to lower level technical staff. Lead projects in driving standardization and continuous improvement to tools/processes for assigned area. Education/Experience Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required for this position; a technical engineering degree or business degree is preferred. Ten (10) years of related experience is required; Other Qualifications: Ability to understand technical drawings and documents Outstanding decision-making and Problem Solving Skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment, and have the ability to follow through on assignments with little to no supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact well in a cross-functional team and maintain the confidentiality of all customer and company information. Physical Requirements: Professional office environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and low noise level. May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a computer, and other office equipment. Minimal physical activity is generally involved, emphasizing the importance of good posture and ergonomic workplace arrangements.
