Job Title: Costume Coordinator (Production Support) Position Overview: We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Costume Coordinator to support our production of The Little Mermaid Jr. This production has already been fully costumed but our costumer will be unavailable during tech & performances due to our overlapping productions. This role is essential during tech week, ensuring a smooth transition into performances and maintaining the quality and readiness of all costume pieces. We have a cast of 50 students ages 10-14 and the show is double cast so there are many costume pieces to track and organize. Schedule: This is a part-time, production-based role active primarily during tech week. There may also be opportunities for additional work during future productions and performance periods. Specific dates and times are provided below: Meeting with Costumer (to be scheduled according to availability prior to load in date) Get familiarized with all costumes for show Understand costume plot and quick change cheat sheets as needed Tech: Mon. 1/12 from 3-9pm Tech: Tues 1/13 from 3-9pm Tech: Wed 1/14 from 3-9pm Tech: Thurs 1/15 from 3-9pm Key Responsibilities: Assist with load-in of costumes, accessories, and costume-related equipment at the theatre. Work closely with the full-time costumer in order to understand how to organize, track, and maintain all costume pieces throughout tech and performances. Ensure all cast members have correct, complete, and well-fitting costumes, making adjustments or flagging issues as needed. Oversee quick fixes, repairs, and replacements during tech and show runs to keep costumes performance-ready. Support backstage costume needs, including garment care, cleaning, and general maintenance. Maintain clear communication with the ICDT! team to keep costume operations running smoothly. Uphold the company’s standards of professionalism, safety, and care for all performers and materials. Qualifications: Prior experience in costuming, wardrobe, theatre production, or related fields preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and problem-solve under pressure. Comfortable working backstage and interacting with up to 50 youth performers ages 10-14 and staff. Ability to lift and move costume bins or equipment during load-in/out.
Responsibilities
The Costume Coordinator will assist with the load-in of costumes and ensure all cast members have the correct and well-fitting costumes. They will also oversee quick fixes and maintain clear communication with the production team.
