SUMMARY: Newton South High School is hiring a costume designer for their after school theatre company, South Stage.
Job responsibilities include costume design for the full show season, and instructing students after school on the costume design process for shows throughout the school year. In between productions the costume designer is a dynamic part of our theatre team and teaches the knowledge and skills central to costume design after school. This is a

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Sewing skills
  • Experience with Costume Design in a school or Theater setting
  • Ability to organize tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Ability to use technology effectively

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching high school students
  • Experience with other Technical Theater aspects is a plus but not required (Sound/Lighting/Set Design.)
  • Ability to work autonomously and make independent decisions
  • Good problem-solving skillsExcellent oral and written communication skills
