Description

IMC is a world wide leader in Mascot or Character Costume Design and Manufacturing. IMC has corporate clients located in over 90 countries world wide and is seeking individuals who have experience either in costume design or theater set design / production.
Our costume designers have a variety of backgrounds and skills. Qualified individuals for our sculpting department will have experience in costuming, with artistic or sculpting skills respond quickly to our training and costume construction methods. We also require individuals to fill roles in our finishing department (covering of costumes) and our sewing department (costume bodies and clothing) who have strong sewing skills. Join us in bringing characters like Red the Angry Bird, Tony the Tiger and others to life in costume form!
Job Type: Full-time
Starting Pay $16.00 an hour.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in costume making, prop fabrication, puppet building, or similar fields.
  • Strong sewing, sculpting, and pattern-making skills.
  • Familiarity with materials like EVA foam, faux fur, lycra/spandex, and thermoplastics.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Ability to follow creative direction and also bring your own ideas to the table.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a “maker” mindset.
  • Physical ability to lift materials and work on large-scale costumes.

Responsibilities
  • Construct custom mascot costumes using foam, fabric, plastic, and other materials.
  • Sew, glue, sculpt, and assemble costume components by hand and machine.
  • Collaborate with designers, illustrators, and clients to meet aesthetic and functional goals.
  • Fit test costumes for comfort, mobility, and durability.
  • Make alterations and repairs as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop.
