About the role In this role, you will work closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders across the City, the Business Partner ensures that issues are thoroughly considered, and that high-quality, timely responses are delivered. The role also includes providing Councillor updates and media support, facilitating CEO and Councillor briefings, and proactively sensing corporate and community needs to inform continuous service improvement. Key responsibilities include: * Act as a conduit between Councillors and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), managing complex enquiries, Public Question Time, and executive briefings. * Coordinate with Councillors, the Executive, senior leadership teams, and subject matter experts to gain a comprehensive understanding of complex issues and formulate aligned, high-quality responses. * Prepare and coordinate responses for Council’s Public Question Time. * Draft and manage briefing papers, reports, presentations, correspondence, and speeches as required. * Develop and maintain strategic networks with key internal and external stakeholders to support the City’s strategic objectives. * Proactively gather sensitive, complex, and politically nuanced information, acting as the primary point of contact for relevant matters within the portfolio. * Act as a risk champion for the portfolio, supporting the management of risks. * Assist in reviewing Council reports to ensure quality, accuracy, and collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders. * Support other ELT-identified projects and initiatives as required. * Assist in the development and review of Council Policies. About you To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in relevant field, such as Communications or Politics and or significant professional experience in Communications, Stakeholder Management, Customer Experience in a comparable organisation. Essential Experience: * Well-developed people skills to support, influence, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders. * Well-developed writing, presentation, and speaking skills to align with stakeholders and achieve support for task outcomes. * Well-developed problem solving and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build collaboration and partnerships. * Demonstrated skills in report, and presentation writing producing content suitable for external as well as internal publication. * Demonstrated research and analytical skills. Can autonomously source and interpret data. * Demonstrated project management abilities including planning and coordinating work activities to deliver by a target date.
