Job Description na The Counselling Manager is responsible for the operational leadership and performance management of the Retirement Benefit Counsellors, Exit Benefit Counsellors, and Retirement Paraplanners. The role is highly execution-focused, with a clear mandate to translate strategy into disciplined day-to-day delivery. Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team; driving the right behaviours, activity levels, and outcomes to achieve member retention, preservation and optimal retirement decision-making. The role relies heavily on reporting, measurement, and performance insight to manage capacity, improve productivity, and ensure consistent, high-quality member outcomes. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the end-to-end operational delivery of retirement and exit counselling and paraplanning teams. Translate strategic objectives into clear operational plans, activity targets, KPIs, and workflows. Drive consistent, high-quality engagement with retirement-eligible and exiting members leading to informed decision-making that supports long-term fund sustainability and member financial wellbeing. Drive awareness of the Fund Annuity Strategy with all stakeholders Support business growth initiatives, strategic campaigns, and client retention efforts. Coordinate and support business development processes. Actively manage pipelines, case progression, and turnaround times to ensure timely and effective retirement-member engagement. Monitor, analyse, and report on key performance metrics including retention, conversion, productivity, and service outcomes. Use data and reporting to identify performance gaps, trends, and improvement opportunities. Drive accountability through structured coaching Ensure operational efficiency through capacity planning, workflow optimisation, and continuous improvement. Maintain compliance with regulatory, governance, and quality standards across all counselling and paraplanning activity. Support business initiatives, campaigns, and growth objectives through strong operational execution. Experience & Capabilities 7–10 years’ experience in financial services, preferably within retirement benefits, wealth, or employee benefits environments. 3–5 years’ experience leading teams in a target-driven, operational environment. Strong capability in operational execution, performance management, and reporting. Experience within annuity product teams is advantageous. Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Commerce, Operations, or related field.
