JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Counsellor/Psychotherapist to join our team. As a Counsellor at our Glasgow-based organisation, you will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals and couples through their mental health journeys. Your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate, client-centred counselling services, ensuring that each client feels heard, respected, and understood. In your counselling sessions, you will create a safe and confidential space where clients can openly explore their thoughts and feelings. You will utilise a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centred therapy, and psychodynamic approaches, to facilitate personal growth and coping strategies.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma, Masters or Doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field.
  • Accreditation - COSCA, BPS, BACP, BABCP or related accrediting body.
  • Certification or additional training in specialised areas of couples therapy (e.g., Emotionally Focused Therapy, The Gottman Method).
  • Experience in a counselling or mental health setting is highly desirable.

SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of relationship dynamics, communication strategies, and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Empathetic, patient, and non-judgmental attitude.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
