Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE:

You will deliver outcome focused evidence-based therapy-based interventions for children and young
people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties to support them to improve their emotional
health and build resilience. This will include (virtual & F2F) individual, group work and peer support. Working
as part of the Be U Swindon Community Team you will be part of the delivery of this day, evening and
weekend provision, working on a rotational basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will support children and young people (CYP) in accessing timely emotional and therapeutic interventions across Be U Swindon’s Hubs (day services) and Haven (evening service). Reporting to the SPA & Community Service Lead and receiving clinical supervision from the Senior Practitioner, you will deliver one-to-one and group therapeutic support in both community and clinical settings. You will conduct initial assessments, provide counselling, facilitate peer support, and offer advice and guidance through the single point of access. In the Haven service, you’ll respond to urgent referrals, offering immediate emotional support to CYP presenting with significant safety needs. You will maintain accurate and confidential case notes, support safeguarding processes, build links with local services, and contribute to the ongoing development and innovation of the service. Strong communication skills, a child-centered approach, and the ability to work independently (including some lone working and on-call responsibilities) are essential to this varied and rewarding role.
