Description

Paint Sales/ Cashier maintains outstanding customer service. Performs all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to support store efficiency and high level of customer satisfaction. The cashier provides all point-of-sale functions, including recording and collecting for customer purchases, processing transactions (cash, credit card, debit card) using retail software, keeping accurate record of all cash, in-house charge, and credit card transactions (debit, gift card etc.), reconciling records of sales with cash and credit information and making sure they balance, and performing various services for customers, such as providing information and confirming prices, all done in a prompt, friendly manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Retail experience is an asset.
  • Friendly and helpful attitude toward customers.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work co-operatively in a team atmosphere.
  • Willingness to continually develop professional skills and knowledge base.

Responsibilities
  • Promote Home’s Paint Loyalty Card to customers to ensure they are aware of the advantages.
  • Design and implement attractive in-store displays
  • Able to learn quickly and retain a large amount of specific product knowledge.
  • Have knowledge of colour matching, or willingness to learn process
  • Greet and verbally communicate with customers, management, and staff both in person and by telephone.
  • Operate all point-of-sale equipment, including the cash register, with sufficient speed and accuracy.
  • Verify signatures on the back of credit cards and expiry dates.
  • Follow proper procedures according to store policy regarding returns and refunds.
  • Ensure customers have had a positive shopping experience; take steps to rectify if they haven’t.
  • Call customers when special orders come in.
  • Assist customers who need advice, information, or directions.
  • Page individuals over the public address system when necessary.
  • Maintain price information (flyers, in-store promotions, etc.) for reference when customer price inquiries arise.
  • Be familiar with items in stock and yard inventory, including product use and operation.
  • Watch for shoplifting and act according to store policy.
  • Knowledge on all promotions through the deferral program. Ability to quickly promote and utilize the points program to give customer’s optimal value.
  • Keep the store tidy; clean the store and check-out area at the end of the shift.
  • Tabulate sales at the end of the day and/or end of the shift and remove cash from the register in accordance with store policy.
  • Attend store meetings, training sessions, etc. as required.
  • Follow all Dress codes including no tights, no ripped pants, and no sandals.
  • Keep the area around workstations clean, organized, and able to serve the customers with any purchases. Dust and maintain the sales area around cash and ensure stock is front faced, priced, and visually appealing.
  • Assist in training new cashiers.
  • Work on special projects as assigned by the head cashier or supervisor.
  • Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management.
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and federal safety legislation. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management to have the situation corrected.
