Description
Project Context and Scope Human trafficking and exploitation remain pressing concerns in the Pacific, particularly in the context of increasing labour mobility and migration. Despite existing legal and institutional frameworks, gaps persist in the coordination and response mechanisms for identifying and assisting victims of trafficking. Pacific Island countries are rapidly becoming high mobility countries with most Pacific islanders participating in various regional labour migration schemes, and thus migrant protection, trafficking and people smuggling are issues that warrants a regional approach. The International Organization for Migration (IOM), through its PX0565 Project, is supporting governments to strengthen national referral mechanisms. This consultancy will focus on developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for a multi-sectoral referral mechanism that ensures timely, survivor-centered, and rights-based support for victims of trafficking. Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing The consultant will be contributing to activities under the PX0565 project and supporting IOM’s Protection/CTIP Unit.
