Position Summary

Under the direction of the Department Director and/or Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse provides both direct and indirect professional nursing care that is safe, effective, and patient-centered. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating healthcare needs for assigned patients
  • Delivering care to a patient population ranging from infants to geriatrics, unless otherwise specified
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team to support unit and hospital goals
  • Adhering to established practice standards and clinical guidelines for the assigned area
  • Flexibility to float to other comparable nursing units as needed
  • Understands regulatory requirements and professional practice guidelines
  • Demonstrates competency in department-specific skills and acts as a resource/mentor for others
  • Engages in leadership activities and team development
  • Collaborates professionally with other departments to ensure patient-centered care
  • Exhibits strong skills in communication, conflict resolution, team building, and leadership
  • Attends ongoing leadership training courses offered by the facility
  • Educates team members on practice updates, regulatory changes, and organizational standards
  • Assists in staff performance evaluation and competency checks
  • Delegates patient care tasks appropriately based on staff experience and skills
  • Exercises independent judgment and initiative within scope of practice
  • Uses sound decision-making in high-pressure situations
  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Capable of working irregular schedules, including weekends and holidays

Education & Certifications

  • Current unrestricted RN license in the State of South Carolina
  • One year of prior Women’s Surgical Services experience preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • Successful completion of nursing service orientation program
  • Attends IV Therapy training and/or demonstrates competency in intravenous therapy within one year
  • Attends Skills Fair and completes annual hospital competency requirements
  • Maintains competency and/or certification specific to departmental requirements
  • BCLS current at hire
  • NRP certification current or obtained within orientation
  • STABLE preferred
  • Advanced certification in specialty and participation in professional organization(s) encouraged
