The REFERENCE LABORATORY SERVICES DIVISION (RLS) of the DEPARTMENT OF LABORATORY MEDICINE AND PATHOLOGY (DLMP) has an outstanding opportunity for an EVENING SHIFT COURIER COORDINATOR . WORK SCHEDULE 100% FTE Monday through Friday EVENING SHIFT - 1:30 PM TO 10 PM 100% Onsite DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Reference Laboratory Services Division is responsible for the prompt, secure, and safe transportation of specimens and supplies to hospitals and client laboratories throughout the region POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Courier Coordinators hold a leadership position within the division and provide vital support to route couriers and back-up couriers in day-to-day operations PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Drives UW vehicle for route coverage, training, or other administrative duties Utilizes a range of tools, including Outlook email, phone, Microsoft Teams, Google Sheets, hc1, and SunQuest Responds to inquiries regarding specimen issues, on-call pickups, route questions, and other related matters from internal and external partners Writes, edits, and implements Standard Operating Procedures and policies Maintains and updates the courier team’s schedule Coordinates back-up couriers, or if necessary, third-party couriers, to ensure route coverage Monitors highway and weather conditions and communicates any relevant issues to couriers REQUIREMENTS High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience ADDITIONAL DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license At least three years of clean driving history ABOUT US A regional resource for clinical laboratory services required for innovative patient care, research and educational programs, the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology combines the sophisticated testing and informatics capabilities of fully accredited laboratories with the resources of an academic institution in its delivery of clinical and anatomic pathology services.
