QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications (Minimum Required):

  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in language and literacy education or a related field.
  • Experience teaching English Language Arts at the Primary, Junior, or Intermediate level.
  • Demonstrated record of effective teaching performance in post-secondary or teacher education settings.

Preferred Qualifications / Assets:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in language and literacy or a related area.
  • Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification in good standing (current) or held within the last five years.
  • OCT Specialist Qualification in Reading and/or Writing, or demonstrated equivalent academic/professional expertise.
  • Familiarity with appropriate pedagogies, assessments, design and implementation of language arts curricula, and critical issues and research in these areas
  • Knowledge of and experience applying Ontario’s Growing Success
  • Experience supporting pre-service or in-service teachers in professional learning related to literacy.
Responsibilities

You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades.
Candidates must be willing to undertake training as required by the Employer including, but not limited to, training in respect of health and safety, harassment and discrimination, and legislated service standards.
