QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications (Minimum Required):

  • Qualifications related to teaching Music at the Primary/Junior/Intermediate level or equivalent
  • Demonstrated record of success in teaching music in elementary classroom or studio contexts
  • Master’s degree, specialist’s certificate, or equivalent in Education or Music Education
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Arts Curriculum, with a focus on Grades 1–8 music
  • Strong pedagogical understanding of foundational music instruction and inclusive teaching practices

Preferred Qualifications / Assets:

  • OCT certification
  • Experience mentoring teacher candidates or facilitating teacher professional learning
  • Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning, differentiated instruction, and equity-informed pedagogy in music
  • Ability to support teacher candidates with limited formal musical training
  • Experience integrating music across other curricular areas
Responsibilities

You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades.
Candidates must be willing to undertake training as required by the Employer including, but not limited to, training in respect of health and safety, harassment and discrimination, and legislated service standards.
