Title and number: EDEE 353. Third Year Professional Seminar (Kindergarten/Elementary)(PIF section).
Course Credits: 3
Term: Fall 2025
Course Description: Theory-based strategies for setting up, managing and teaching in the elementary school classroom. Methods for integrating the individual subject areas in the elementary school curriculum, using the Quebec curriculum as the primary example. Professional portfolios and professional competencies will be addressed.
Please note: Excellent French language proficiency, both oral and written, is required as this course is taught in French.
This course is not taught electronically or online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):

Education

  • Master’s degree (In exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master’s degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered)
  • Teaching degree or equivalent

Experience

  • Experience teaching in elementary schools
  • Expert knowledge of course content
  • Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP)
  • Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
  • Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary/secondary school system an asset
  • Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers an asset
  • Familiarity with myCourses and Zoom or similar online course and meeting platforms an asset.

Other

  • Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors.
  • Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date

Other Information:

  • This course may be subject to a co-teaching assignment resulting in a reduction of credits (and hours) assigned to each instructor.
