Explores questions, aims, debates and modes of inquiry that characterize philosophical approaches to studying educational questions. Introduces philosophy of education as a distinctive field of educational research and may focus on figures or themes of contemporary interest.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

Education

  • PhD (in exceptional cases, PhD candidates and master teachers with an MA with extensive relevant experience will be considered).

Experience

  • Expert knowledge and experience in course content, including the knowledge of philosophers and philosophies of education from around the world and from non-dominant identities
  • Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP)
  • Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified in the Ministère de l’Éducation
  • Previous successful teaching similar course(s) at the university level
  • Experience teaching in the Quebec school system an asset

Other

  • Knowledge of the impact and proven record of integrating pedagogical approaches anchored in equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Familiarity using myCourses, Zoom, and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences.
  • Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital and pedagogical teaching and learning tools.
