Description:

Role Summary
The basic function of a Course Supervisor is to ensure the daily operations of Ziptrek are running smoothly, safely, and efficiently, maximizing guest enjoyment. Course Supervisors coordinate the tasks and activities of Shuttle Drivers and Tour Guides (including Senior Tour Guides). This position requires a current 80-hour First Aid (OFA 3, OEC or WFR) certificate. Interviews will take place the first week of February with a start date no later than the end of February.

  • Very physically active with the ability to lift 100 lbs and a demonstrated aptitude for rope rigging skills.
  • (Adventure) A tourism degree is advantageous

Main Duties

  • Oversee daily course operations in a manner that is safe and fun for all by making risk management the highest priority.
  • Function as the first responder to any radio calls, using a systematic approach that allows to break down difficult problems and communicate effectively to the right parties.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day Tour Guide and Shuttle Driver schedules.
  • Enforce established procedures for Tour Guides and Shuttle Drivers.
  • Support Tour Guides and Shuttle Drivers to ensure the highest possible level of customer service and a terrific guest experience.
  • Provide Guide & Tour Assistance including:
  • Deck Support, retrievals, incident assistance, tour timing, guiding, and equipment management.
  • Open & Closing procedures including:
  • Set up zipline, course inspections, zipstop operation, retrieval ropes, and first aid kits.
  • Coordination of vehicle pre-trip inspections.
  • Zipline course and other locations lockup and asset protection.
  • Maintain all aspects of course operations including:
  • Safety inspections, inventory tracking, and required documentation.
  • Course & building maintenance including structures, course infrastructure, equipment, tour area, cleaning etc.
  • Transportation including Vehicle and ATV, fuelling, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Identify areas that require attention and arrange for maintenance and repair work as required.
  • Requisition supplies and materials in line with the department budget.
  • Act as a senior guest liaison with all VIP, media, and special requirement tours.
  • Interdepartmental communication, including: liaising with Guest Services, HR, and In-resort Sales.
  • Train Tour Guide, Senior Tour Guide, and Shuttle Driver staff in job duties, safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Complete all action items assigned to you; checking task lists periodically to ensure it is up to date.
  • Perform Senior Tour Guide, Tour Guide & Shuttle Driver shifts as required.

Authorities

  • Carry out verbal & written warnings.
  • Remove anyone from Ziptrek locations if they are causing potential safety or customer relationship issues
  • Order course evacuation.
  • Deal with Level II and III incidents according to the Emergency Response Plan.

Rhythms (Meeting & Reporting)

  • Ensure daily logs and inspection forms are completed.
  • Communicate all Level 2 and 3 Incidents to the Assistant Course Managers.
  • Act as the first level of escalation (while on duty) for any incident on the course - forward to the appropriate personnel and/or service as per the procedure.
  • Attend a training/update meeting once a season: Assistant Course Managers and all Course Supervisors in attendance.
  • Attend monthly one-on-one meetings with Assistant Course Managers.
  • Conduct bi-weekly/monthly mentor group meetings with direct reports (depending on season).
  • Contribute to the ongoing conversation with other Course Supervisors via Email, Chat and other methods.

Hours, Training & Benefits:

  • Full-time staff are eligible to enroll in extended health benefits after a 6-month waiting period.
  • On-call schedule with possible irregular hours - dependent on business levels.
  • The starting wage for this position is $24.25 per hour.
  • If you have both your First Aid Certificate (OFA 3, OEC or WFR) and your Class 4 Unrestricted BC Driver’s License, your wage will go up to $25.25 per hour.
