Berwick Qualicum Beach retirement community is looking for an Courtesy Driver who is reliable, authentic, and excited to make a difference in the lives of people. POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Office Manager, the Courtesy Car Driver provides transportation for residents to and from various appointments and shopping destinations and within designated geographic areas. Provides service in a friendly, professional manner and assists with loading and unloading of materials, bags and walkers as requested. Provides a safe and comfortable experience by obeying all speed limits, traffic rules and by practicing defensive driving techniques. Supports recreation activities as required. Is responsible for Emergency Response in the handling of resident medical emergencies that may occur during transport.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • A minimum of seven (7) years driving experience, with preference given to candidates with commercial driving experience
  • Must have a full valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License – preference may be given to applicants with a valid Class 4 Driver’s License (restricted or unrestricted).
  • Valid Emergency Level 1 First Aid Certificate and CPR
  • WHMIS Certification
  • Clean drivers abstract report and safe driving record
  • Must be in good health, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand and walk as required to perform the duties of the position
  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently and understands verbal and written instruction
  • Clearance to work with vulnerable adults pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act
  • Confidentiality, patience, and an ability to treat staff and residents with respect and dignity
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with the various individuals involved in providing service in a flexible resident focused environment
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Computer skills an asset

Note: At Berwick we understand the importance of immunization to protect our residents, team members and visitors from COVID-19. As such, a prerequisite of employment is that all new hires are vaccinated as approved by Health Canada. A current TB test and criminal record check are also required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable adults.
