The Courtesy Officer will ensure the safety and security of our residents, staff, and property. This role requires a compassionate, professional individual who can interact respectfully with elderly residents while maintaining a secure environment. MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES: 1. Monitor and Patrol: Conduct regular patrols of the community grounds and buildings to ensure safety and security. Complete all required security check list and document all findings. 2. Access Control: Manage entry and exit points, verify visitor credentials, and maintain a log of all visitors. 3. Emergency Response: Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, providing assistance and coordinating with emergency services when necessary. Knowledgeable in all emergency/safety policies and procedures and takes the lead in in emergency situations keeping a calm demeanor. 4. Resident Assistance: Offer support to residents, including escorting them to and from their homes, and assisting with any security concerns. 5. Incident Reporting: Document and report any suspicious activities, security breaches, or safety hazards. 6. Surveillance: Operate and monitor security systems, including CCTV cameras and alarm systems. 7. Housekeeping and maintenance: Perform some housekeeping and maintenance duties to include but not limited to cleaning front entrance, vacuuming, clean up water, reset call system, and trash removal. Assist maintenance on call staff as needed. 8. Safety: Mut be able to follow all guidelines for hazardous materials, standard precautions, and safety regulations. 9. Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with residents and staff, fostering a sense of safety and community. 10. Transportation: Transport residents as needed. 11. Communication: Answers telephone and directs calls accordingly. 12. Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND WORKING CONDITIONS: · Work in a well-lighted, well-ventilated setting. · Physical exertion is required at least 40% of the time. Physical exertion is described as standing, Stooping, kneeling, and bending. · Occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing at least 35 pounds and pushing objects weighing between 150-200 pounds. · Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and respond quickly to emergencies. · May be subject to noisy, hot, or cold, humid, and busy environment. · Low exposure to infectious diseases. · Exposure to some noise and stress. · Ability to work and talk with people. · Strong observational and communication skills, ability to remain calm under pressure, and basic first aid knowledge. · Sufficiently mobile to push wheelchairs, carts, and equipment. · Communicate via telephone and other automation vehicles. · Ability to evaluate and appropriately respond to verbal and nonverbal communication from resident’s diverse stages of development, i.e., adults and geriatrics. · Physical job demands may be subject to possible modifications to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. · Obey all federal, state, and local laws. · Other duties as assigned. Requirements Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Experience: Previous experience in security or law enforcement preferred. Certifications: Security guard certification and CPR/First Aid certification preferred. Personal Attributes: Compassionate, respectful, reliable, and attentive to detail. Requires high level customer service skills An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Responsibilities
The Courtesy Officer will ensure the safety and security of residents, staff, and property by conducting regular patrols and managing access control. They will also respond to emergencies, assist residents, and document any incidents or security breaches.
