Description

FIXED TERM UNTIL JULY 2026

Are you someone who loves working with young people and making a difference in their learning journey?
The Portsmouth Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our team on a fixed term basis.
We require a proactive person to cover lessons and support students to help with their learning, whilst maintaining our high standards of behaviour. Your main purpose will be to deliver preset work in the absence of the teacher normally responsible for teaching a particular class, by utilising pre-prepared exercises. When no cover duties are required, you will undertake activities to assist teachers in the delivery of the curriculum.
This is a fantastic opportunity for either experienced cover supervisors or for someone looking to gain teaching experience.

ABOUT US

The Portsmouth Academy is focused on providing an inclusive education for all children and ensuring that every child has access to the same opportunities. The Portsmouth Academy’s vision and ethos is rooted in developing aspirational and self-reflective learners who are able to think for themselves and be valuable members of their community. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum in both KS3 and 4, placing significant importance on cultural capital alongside academic achievement.

  • Supervise individuals or small groups of students adapting tasks where needed to meet learning objectives
  • Monitor and report pupil progress and behaviour to teaching staff and/or SENCO
  • Support the development of literacy and numeracy skills of pupils from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of classroom activities when cover duties are not required
