Role Overview The role is responsible for leading business development and operational activities across Afreximbank’s presence within the Arise Industrial Parks. The position will focus on originating export transactions, expanding access to international markets and facilitating financing and other support solutions for industrial park tenants. The role holder will develop and implement business plans, coordinate transaction execution with relevant functions across the Bank and build strategic relationships with tenants, buyers, financial institutions and other market participants. Particular emphasis will be placed on expanding trade corridors with markets such as China and India. Key Responsibilities Develop business plans and annual business development plans to guide Afreximbank’s activities across all Arise Industrial Parks. Manage the day-to-day operations and business development activities of Afreximbank’s representative offices or implants within the Arise Industrial Parks. Lead the origination, structuring and execution of export-related transactions across the Arise Industrial Parks network. Develop, market and manage products, initiatives and programmes targeting Arise Industrial Park tenants to increase exports across key trade corridors, particularly China and India. Prepare comprehensive business development plans covering financing opportunities that support Afreximbank’s export development objectives within the industrial parks. Serve as the primary interface between Afreximbank’s Arise Industrial Park operations and stakeholders across the Bank’s credit value chain, including Credit Assessment, Legal and Banking Operations. Coordinate with relevant Bank functions, including SME Development, Trade Information and Advisory Services, to deliver financial and non-financial support to industrial park tenants. Design and implement market-expansion initiatives that connect industrial park tenants with prospective buyers and off-takers across Asia and other strategic trade corridors. Facilitate financing solutions that support production and the fulfilment of export orders by eligible industrial park tenants. Build and maintain relationships with industrial park tenants, prospective buyers, off-takers, commercial banks, financial institutions, commodity boards and other relevant organisations. Establish strategic relationships with international banks, African financial institutions, project finance intermediaries, project sponsors, developers and corporate organisations. Compliance Responsibilities Understand and adhere to the Bank’s AML, regulatory and conduct compliance policies and procedures, including: Staff Handbook and Code of Conduct; Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Financing of Terrorism and Counter Proliferation Financing requirements; Conflicts of Interest and External Engagement policies; Anti-Bribery and Corruption requirements; and Insider Trading Guidelines. Report suspicious or non-compliant activities involving the Bank’s staff, customers or counterparties to the Compliance Department. Complete the required annual compliance training and assessments. Support the implementation of the Bank’s compliance strategy and contribute to maintaining an effective control environment. Consider compliance risks when developing strategies, business plans, products and wider initiatives. Identify and escalate potential compliance risks relevant to the business area. Maintain a thorough understanding of the assigned customer portfolio, including customers’ businesses and related parties, and communicate material changes to the Compliance team. Obtain the required KYC and compliance documentation through effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders. Work with the Compliance team to ensure that products and transactions comply with applicable country legislation and that appropriate due diligence is completed to mitigate financial-crime risks. A postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Banking, Finance or a related discipline from a recognised university. A professional qualification in Banking or International Trade Finance may also be considered. At least 10 years of relevant experience within a leading organisation, with strong exposure to trade and export development finance products applicable to industrial park tenants. Strong knowledge of Afreximbank’s product suite, including: Credit facilities; Risk-bearing instruments; Structured trade finance; Equity financing; and Project-related financing. Proven experience in developing, structuring and marketing trade and export finance products. Strong capabilities in credit analysis, transaction documentation and relationship management. Demonstrated ability to assess customer needs and develop suitable financial products and solutions. Deep understanding of the trade finance landscapes in Africa and Asia, particularly China and/or India. Ability to engage and build confidence with senior officials from banks, corporates, governments and other institutions. Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to organise and manage teams and resources to achieve business objectives. Ability to communicate and operate effectively in a culturally diverse environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French. Knowledge of the Bank’s other working languages will be an advantage. Strong time-management skills and the ability to deliver under tight deadlines.
