Description
Responsible for safety & discipline in work area Carry out electrical maintenance, fault finding and monitoring of the cranes and other related equipment and carry out the tasks assigned by Supervisor. Ensure maximum operational availability of cranes by diagnostic work and repair methods. Submit routine inspection and monitoring reports as required. Carry out duties independently when called out and report breakdowns and faults. Assume additional responsibility for crane maintenance in the absence of Supervisor. Ensure that emergency work is followed up by reporting to Supervisor. Ensure work practice conforms to safety regulations and procedures. Ensure that all preventive maintenance (Electrical) is conducted as defined in the system. Attend breakdowns as reported by Planning & Admin Clerk on immediate basis. Ensure accurate, up to date information is provided in the work order for input into the system. Ensure that work order is generated (in coordination with planning clerk) for all electrical work performed on the cranes Submit correct information about start time and end time of maintenance activity. Conduct maintenance activities as per defined timelines Obtain approval of supervisor before making purchase requisition and submitting to stores Ensures tidiness and cleanliness of workshop facilities and all equipment for which his team is responsible. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Experience in container in seaport and/ or heavy equipment environment Mandatory: 2 to 3 years Education: Grade 12 with specialization in mechanical systems. Preferable: Diploma in electrical engineering Preferable experience in working on heavy equipment in ports, mining, steel industries Ability to work on heights, knowledge about lifting chain and ropes Detailed knowledge of a wide range of electrical equipment, diesel engines, transmissions, pneumatic & hydraulic systems, brakes etc. Conversant with technical/ parts manuals, and drawings.
