DOF is currently seeking an individual for an offshore position of a Crane Operator/AB for our LIV (Light Intervention Vessel) the Skandi Vinland, committed to a long-term contract off the East Coast of Canada. Offshore work schedule will be based on a 28-day rotation but this is subject to change. We are looking for a motivated and hardworking seafarer who has the passion for a career at sea. EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Transport Canada Bridge Watch Rating Certificate of Competency
  • STCW MED Basic Safety and Survival Craft
  • Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties Certificate
  • Marine Basic First Aid and CPR
  • Valid Canadian Passport
  • Valid Seafarers Medical
  • Stage 3 Offshore Crane Operator Certificate
  • Certificate of Proficiency in Passenger Safety Management would be considered an asset

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Previous experience on Offshore Support Vessels
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written
  • Capable of discussing issues and topics of importance at every level
  • Good organizational skills and ability to multitask
    Successful candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. DOF maintains the right to request a criminal background check as a part of the recruitment process.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate all cranes onboard the vessel
  • Assume the role of vessel AB when not required for crane duties
  • Maintain cranes according to TM-Master and Chief Engineer’s requirements
  • Maintain lifting equipment of the vessel
  • Report technical problems to the Chief Engineer
  • Boatswain function, should report to the Chief Officer every morning for job instructions
  • Night Watch when in port
  • Act as look out when required
  • Working with other departments as instructed by the Chief Officer
  • Maintenance of deck equipment
  • General deck work as required
  • Lashing and securing the deck cargo or equipment on deck
  • Washing down the vessel externally
  • Manning mooring stations as required
