JOIN OUR TEAM Austin Engineering is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Craneway Coordinator to support our steel fabrication operations. This position plays a critical role in keeping production moving by coordinating and transporting steel plate, materials, and fabricated parts throughout the facility and yard. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Coordinate movement of steel plate, materials, and fabricated parts between storage and production areas * Review and process Material Issue Tickets (MITs) * Verify plate grade, thickness, sizing, and nesting information * Operate overhead cranes, jib hoists, forklifts, yard trucks, trailers, and yard mules * Load, unload, transport, and stage steel materials safely and efficiently * Record heat numbers and coordinate with Quality Assurance prior to cutting * Secure loads for transport and storage * Assist Production Control in locating materials and remnants throughout the yard * Measure and calculate center points and weights for safe lifting operations * Maintain a clean and organized work area * Follow all company safety policies and procedures WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR * Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes * Prior fabrication shop, steel yard, or industrial experience preferred * Strong attention to detail and safety awareness * Ability to work in changing weather and industrial environments * Dependable attendance and strong work ethic * Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills * Ability to read and follow written instructions and production documents QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum 6 months of fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial experience preferred * Valid Wyoming Driver’s License preferred * Ability to safely operate heavy material handling equipment * Basic math skills including measuring and calculating dimensions and weights PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This is a physically active position in a heavy steel fabrication environment. Employees must be able to: * Stand for extended periods * Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions * Frequently bend, kneel, climb, and lift materials * Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds * Work safely around moving equipment, suspended loads, welding operations, and loud industrial noise WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in a heavy steel fabrication facility and outdoor steel yard. Employees are regularly exposed to: * Welding, grinding, cutting, and fabrication operations * Forklift and crane traffic * Loud industrial noise * Dust, fumes, airborne particles, and changing weather conditions Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and required.
