Description
Develop detailed Ford Global Product Development System workplans to lead the Crash Safety attribute with emphasis on Pedestrian Protection, and ensure on-time program delivery, to target, within budget with emphasis on Ford+ behaviors. Review emerging technologies and develop plans to implement with quality on advanced model programs. Anticipate the impact that new regulations and public domain ratings may have on future global vehicle programs Develop efficient vehicle structural strategies that align with Ford's vision of safety leadership Foster technical knowledge & growth within the Crash Safety team Utilize working knowledge of supplier manufacturing / assembly capabilities and processes to resolve issues Apply knowledge from competitive benchmarking to develop innovative solution concepts Lead CAE and physical test analyses for pedestrian protection, and low speed damageability. Create concepts that generate new insights and visions or methods for producing long-term competitiveness. Guide and mentor CAE Crash engineers from model build through completion of analytical assessments, in reporting on full vehicle programs. Lead development, certification, and homologation testing to demonstrate compliance to global regulations and public domain protocols. Sign-off responsibility for Pedestrian Protection Safety Compliance Demonstration Plans & Reports and Homologation documentation submitted to external witness authorities. Creating a positive work environment based on candid, constructive feedback and debate. Career mentoring and development of safety engineers. Established and active employee resource groups Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study (BS, BSE Mechanical, Aerospace, Structures, Bio-Mechanics preferred) Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience designing for Pedestrian Protection Extensive knowledge of Global Safety regulatory and Public Domain requirements (e.g. FMVSS, ECE, NCAP) Strong knowledge of Body exterior systems, front-end systems, under hood systems, and related deployable devices. Excellent interpersonal communication skills (oral and written) Demonstrated leadership in full vehicle program end-to-end safety attribute delivery High proficiency in Crash Safety toolset including full vehicle, sub-system & component CAE (LS-Dyna) and physical crash testing procedures Experience with mixed energy propulsion systems (ICE, Hybrid Electric, Battery Electric) Masters Engineering (MS, MSE)
