Description
We’re looking for a creative and hands-on designer to help shape the Grain experience - from buffet setups and tasting events to packaging details and surprise moments that delight. You’ll bring a thoughtful eye for detail, craft, and storytelling to shape how customers experience Grain. You will: Design and execute physical experiences across our events, photoshoots and setups - from centrepieces, floral sourcing to buffet styling and photoshoot set design. Source, test, and coordinate materials, props, and decor elements — balancing creativity, cost, and practicality. Support the visual upgrade of our buffet touchpoints Assist in concept development and styling for pop-ups, tastings, and surprise stations — ensuring each detail reflects Grain’s brand and experience principles. Collaborate closely with creative, sales, R&D teams to bring ideas from sketch to setup, ensuring every visual detail is both beautiful and functional. Occasionally assist with packaging, label, and small-format design work to ensure consistency across the Grain brand. We're looking for someone with: Attitude: You’re a problem solver who uses design to solve business and customer problems. You take ownership, are accountable and self-motivated, and you work with teams, not around them. You care about craft - down to the last detail. You’re empathetic and communicate clearly - through your work and with people. You’re organised and systematic, able to plan ahead, document your work, and manage multiple moving parts. You’re curious, growth-oriented, and comfortable with ambiguity. Skills & Qualifications 1–2 years of experience in visual merchandising, styling, spatial design, or events (F&B, retail, or hospitality experience a plus). Good taste with strong eye for colour and proportion - with an understanding of both design and practicality. Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, or other design tools (basic 3D/SketchUp a bonus). A passion for food, design, and crafting experiences that make people feel something. Technical requirements: Design fundamentals: Comfortable with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Canva for layout, mockups, and visual documentation. Basic spatial sketching: Able to sketch or visualise setups and ideas clearly — doesn’t need 3D modelling, but should communicate concepts through quick drawings or digital mockups. Photography & composition sense: Basic understanding of lighting, framing, and visual balance to ensure every setup looks good in real life and in photos. Familiar with production materials: Basic knowledge of props, florals, textiles, and event materials — how they look, behave, and hold up during use. Hands-on mindset: Able to work comfortably with tools, packing materials, and on-site setup (not just digital design). Bonus: Experience with SketchUp, Figma, or other 3D tools a plus but not required. What’s in it for you: Work with a fast growing, at the same time, lean and mean team, to make real world impact. Have a lot of ownership and drive your own results. Work with smart people who sweat the details and push for the highest standards. You should include these in your application: CV or LinkedIn profile Design portfolio (attach as separate document) Tell us about a time you had to work on a highly challenging task. How did you overcome it? What motivates you? What's your favourite food and where do you get it? Why?
